What is cashback and how it works on Esportik

We explain what cashback is, how it is generated when you shop at partner stores, and how Esportik turns it into support for athletes and clubs.

Cashback is money you get back after you shop. It isn’t a checkout discount or a coupon: you pay the usual price, and some time later a slice of what you spent lands back in your Esportik account. Buy a 60 € pair of trainers from a store offering 8% cashback and that’s nearly 5 € back, for doing nothing different from what you were already going to do.

Where the money actually comes from

It comes down to how stores find new customers. Every brand sets aside part of its budget for advertising: ads, social, partnerships. When you reach a store through Esportik, the store can see you came from us, and if you buy, it pays us a commission for the referral. Instead of keeping all of it, we hand most of it back to you.

So cashback doesn’t come out of your pocket and it doesn’t make the product cost more. It comes from the budget the store had already set aside to win customers.

  1. You visit the store through an Esportik link.
  2. You shop as usual, at the same price as always.
  3. The store records your purchase and pays us a commission.
  4. That commission becomes your cashback.

Why it doesn’t show up instantly

Cashback takes time. A purchase first sits as pending, because the store waits for the return window to close. There’s no point paying you for something you send back a week later. Once the sale is final, the cashback turns confirmed and it’s yours. Depending on the store, that can be anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months. It’s normal for how this works, not Esportik fine print.

You never pay anything extra: cashback comes from the commission the store already spends on advertising and customer acquisition.
